All the places affected by the new travel guidance

Travel guidance has been issued for specific areas of the country where the new coronavirus variant is spreading fastest.

The new Covid-19 Delta variant spreads more easily from person to person.

To help stop the spread, the government have told people living in areas where there are more cases to avoid meeting up inside where possible and minimise travel in and out of affected areas.

These areas are:

  • Bedford Borough Council
  • Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council
  • Greater Manchester Combined Authority (Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan)
  • Kirklees Council
  • Lancashire County Council (Burnley, Chorley, Fylde, Hyndburn, Lancaster, Pendle, Preston, Ribble Valley, Rossendale, South Ribble, West Lancashire, Wyre)
  • Leicester City Council
  • London Borough of Hounslow
  • North Tyneside Council

New advice issued today (June 8) also states residents should get tested twice a week, keep two metres apart from people outside of their households and continue to work from home where possible.
