There are a number of roads and streets across the region that will be closed this week, causing all kinds of traffic disruption for motorists.

Here are the road closures in the North East for this coming week from Monday, April 4 to Friday, April 8:

- Barrington Road is closed due to resurfacing work between Barrington Industrial Estate (Choppington) and Red Row Drive Roundabout (Bedlington).
Blandford Square One Way Street is closed due to roadworks from Sunderland Street to Westmorland Road.
Burdon Lane is closed in both directions due to roadworks between Woodham Drive (Ryhope, Sunderland) and Burdon Turn-off (Burdon, Sunderland).
Gowland Avenue is closed in both directions due to roadworks from Nuns Moor Road to Sutherland Avenue.
Kingsway is closed in both directions due to roadworks between Fenham Hall Drive and Queensway.
Nuns Moor Road is closed in both directions due to roadworks from Cedar Road to Nuns Moor Crescent.
Ridley Place is closed in both directions due to roadworks from B1309 John Dobson Street to Northumberland Street.
Shakespeare Street is closed in both directions due to roadworks between Grey Street and Pilgrim Street.
The Road is closed due to bridge maintenance work between B6297 New Row and Thornley Village.
One lane is closed due to roadworks on the A189 at the A188 Benton Lane (Findus Roundabout).
One lane is closed due to roadworks on the A191 Whitley Road Eastbound from Tynedale Terrace to Belvedere Gardens.
