All the new graphs presented at latest coronavirus Ireland briefing and what they actually mean

Professor Phillip Nolan presented a number of new graphs on the coronavirus situation on Thursday night.

The models were presented over the live streams on Virgin Media and RTE but a lot of people weren't able to make out the graphs themselves.

All of the new graphics have been made available online and we've put them all together here and given a quick rundown of what they mean.

A total of 43 new deaths and 724 more cases were announced at the briefing on Thursday.

Professor Philip Nolan, Chair of NPHET Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group, said; “Our model today is showing four reproductive numbers, illustrating the different stages of the disease in Ireland over the past 6 weeks.

“We now estimate our R0 to be between 0.7 and 1.0, which means current restrictions are successfully suppressing the disease.”

Here are Mr Nolan's graphs which were presented on Thursday evening.

Total cases

This one is self-explanatory, the total number of people who have the disease, are in ICU, admitted to hospital and have died.

Growth rate

This is by how much cases have been growing daily, while numbers may be jumping into the hundreds recently, the actual rate of growth is spiraling down.

Growth rate new confirmed cases

Daily average ICU

This is how many people are in ICU beds each and every day which has now levelled out.

Deaths

Potential cases

This is how many cases Ireland could have seen if the reproduction rate in the country was 3.7 and 2.4, compared to the much better 1.2.

New daily cases with lower R rate

This is what would happen if the R rate was considerably lower.

All possibilities of daily news cases

These are all the potential outcomes depending on what the reproduction number (R rate) is. This measures how many other people the average infected person spreads the virus to. Ireland's current R rate is around 0.8 which is the grey line.
