All the movie stars you could spot in Ireland from Matt Damon, Nicole Kidman and more

Ireland is rolling out the red carpet this autumn as a whole host of stars descend on our shores for two major movies.

Two blockbusters, Viking adventure The Northman and The Last Duel starring Matt Damon, are currently being filmed here.

Residents of Malin Head on the Inishowen Peninsula in Co Donegal were curious after a number of film trucks arrived in the area in recent days.

It has been revealed that filming is set to take place for The Northman which is set in Iceland at the turn of the 10th century.

Because of north Donegal’s rugged landscape, Lagg in Malin Head was considered an ideal location to replicate the Icelandic landscape.

Some pictures of the setting up of the movie set have been leaked within the local community.

A historic boat has also been pictured on the local beach.

This has led to huge excitement with people hoping to get a glimpse of the cast.

And they have a good chance of spotting an A-lister as the movie features an all-star cast, including Nicole Kidman, Willem Defoe, Ethan Hawke, Bill and Alexander Skarsgård and Icelandic singer Björk.

Meanwhile, Matt Damon flew into Ireland earlier this year to film scenes for The Last Duel but when production halted, the star stayed on in lockdown in Dalkey.

The Good Will Hunting actor caused a stir earlier this year when he spent several weeks quarantining in Dublin, with a now-famous picture surfacing of him holding a Supervalu shopping bag.

He was spotted several times at local coffee shops, driving around in a Ford Fiesta, jogging on Killiney Hill and going for a swim.

He jetted back to the US after enjoying an extended stay in Ireland but has since returned to resume filming the Ridley Scott flick The Last Duel.

The action movie also stars Ben Affleck, Killing Eve star Jodie Comer and Girls actor Adam Driver.

And some homegrown talent will be joining them with Dublin Murders actor Caoimhe O'Malley and Game of Thrones star Michael McElhatton also part of the cast.
