A number of roadworks will be taking place across the North East this week - here is the full list.
According to information from traffic experts, some roads and streets are expected to be closed or may have temporary measures in place. The information below will help drivers to factor in any road closures and change their travel arrangements if necessary.
Diversion routes may also be in place in some areas, so people are urged to check if any of the works are likely to disrupt their journeys. These road closures are for the week running Monday, January 23, to Sunday, January 29.

Strawberry Lane in both directions closed due to roadworks from Strawberry Place to St Andrews Street. Until February 23.
Temporary traffic lights due to gas main work on Union Street at Ingham Place. Until January 28.
Trewhitt Road in both directions closed due to water main work from Chillingham Road to Whitefield Terrace. Until January 23.

A1171 Westmorland Way in both directions closed due to roadworks between Crow Hall Lane and A1172 Station Road. Until March 31.

Temporary traffic lights due to long-term roadworks on B6319 Ratcliffe Road near Church Street. Temporary lights will be in place while works are carried out on the bridge. Until January 21.
Gas House Lane in both directions closed due to roadworks from B1337 Damside to Staithes Lane. Until 4pm January 20.

Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on A188 Benton Lane at West Farm Avenue. Until June.
One lane closed due to roadworks on A189 at A1056 Killingworth Way. On the roundabout. Near to High Gosforth Park. Until April 7.
Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on A193 Allendale Place in both directions at Bath Terrace. Until February 17.
Temporary traffic lights due to long-term roadworks on Liddell Street near Clive Street. Until May 2024.
Trinity Terrace in both directions closed due to roadworks from A187 Prudhoe Street to Langley Tarn. Until February 3.
Tyne Street in both directions closed due to roadworks from Union Street to Stephenson Street. Until May 15.

Narrow lanes and speed restriction of 50mph due to major widening works on A1 Western Bypass in both directions from J67 Kingsway South (Coalhouse Roundabout) to A1(M) J65 / A194M Birtley. Work to create an extra lane in each direction. Until May 2025.
