All the latest Covid-19 restrictions that are now in place across Ireland

At midnight on Thursday, November 18, a whole host of new Covid-19 restrictions came into force in Ireland.

These new measures were introduced following advice from NPHET as cases of Covid-19 nearly overwhelm the health system across the country.

Another 4,650 cases were reported on November 18, with 43 more deaths reported in the last week.

There have been 56 admissions to hospital in the last 24 hours with 48 discharges. A total of 643 people are being treated in hospital with Covid-19 118 of them in ICU.

This surge in cases comes just four weeks after the 11pm curfew was lifted.

Here are all the new Covid-19 restrictions that have been introduced.

Working from home

The Government is advising everyone to work from home where possible and only go into the office if absolutely necessary.

Vaccine Passes at theatres and cinemas

The vast majority of cinemas and theatres have been scanning customers vaccine passes before this announcement as it was the only way to allow for a full capacity.

Now, however, it is a legal obligation to scan vaccine passes.

Antigen tests will now be used for those who are fully vaccinated and are showing no symptoms of Covid-19. Households need to restrict their movements until three negative antigen test results have been confirmed in one week.

Midnight curfew

A midnight curfew applies to all licenced premises including hotels and hotel residence bars, pubs, nightclubs and restaurants.
