All the latest closures as Wollaton Park shuts car parks to public

Major changes have been announced at Wollaton Park as officials aim to halt the spread of coronavirus.

The park will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists to get some exercise and fresh air, however, people are being urged to keep a distance of two metres from others, particularly on paths and parks.

Wollaton Hall, the Camellia House, the Formal Gardens and the Nottingham Industrial Museum have all closed to the public.

All car parks, toilets, cafes, shops and vehicle entrances will also close and public events planned for March and May have either been postponed or suspended.

A spokesperson said: "Over the coming days and weeks, our customer service team will be discussing with customers affected by these changes, to work through alternative measures, and facilitate how we can best help. Please do get in touch if you have any arrangements you would like to discuss.

"We are also working closely with suppliers, and events vendors to work through postponing any planned activity over the coming weeks."

Several other attractions and business have announced this weekend they will close because of coronavirus.

John Lewis will shut all its stores - including one at the intu Victoria centre - from Monday because of the pandemic.

On Saturday, March 21, Nottingham-based coffee shop 200 Degrees announced the closure of all its branches until further notice, in line with Government measures.

A statement from the firm on Twitter said: "Thank you for understanding, stay safe, wash those hands, enjoy your coffee at home and look after each other."

Meanwhile, Rushcliffe Borough Council confirmed on Friday, March 20, it would close its leisure centres in line with government advice.

Rushcliffe Arena, Cotgrave, Keyworth and Bingham Leisure Centres and East Leake Leisure Centre had remained open, adopting good hygiene practices and asking users to observe social distancing.

But in a statement on Friday, a spokesperson said: "The latest advice means the centres will now close but parks, open spaces and playing fields in the Borough will remain open."

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Friday that all bars, clubs, restaurants and nightclubs would have to shut. However, this has not yet extended to shops.
