All the key details on when Manchester United can next make signings

The summer transfer window has been and gone for Manchester United.

While some supporters will be disappointed the club didn't add to their midfield ranks, overall the fans will be able to reflect on a memorable market.

After signing Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, the Red Devils appeared to be primed for a serious push for the Premier League title. The acquisition of club icon Cristiano Ronaldo was the icing on the cake for Reds supporters.

United also decided to sell Dan James to Leeds United, while Jesse Lingard remained at Old Trafford despite links to West Ham United throughout the window.

Having added players of such calibre to the squad, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be expected to have the Red Devils in the mix for major silverware come the end of the season.

With that in mind, the January market may be crucial for United, in either bringing in a player who can plug a gap in the squad or moving out those who are not getting as much game time as they would like.

After significant investment in the summer, it's not anticipated United will spend big again in January. However, they did sign Bruno Fernandes in the mid-season window in 2020 and he's gone on to become the team's key performer.

When does the January transfer window open?

The winter window is set to open on Saturday, January 1 and close on Monday, January 31.
