Shoppers are being warned to check their purchases as several food recall notices have been issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) in supermarkets such as Lidl and Tesco this month.
Aldi Ireland has been asked to recall batches of its Roosters Breaded Chicken Goujons due to the presence of Salmonella .
The order, which was given on June 1, concerns the products with the best before end dates of October 2021 and November 2021.
"People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours," the FSAI warned.
"The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps.
"The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission.
"The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness."
Lidl were also ordered to recall their stock of Teddy Bear Sausage Slices due to the presence of metal machinery dust contamination.
The recall order is on the 8 cooked pork sausage slices pack size: 90g and 115g, with the use-by dates up to July 5th, 2021.
The FSAI confirmed that some implicated batches were sold in Lidl stores, where a point-of-sale recall notice is displayed.
Batches of Lukosz Fresh Turkey Butterfly Mini have a recall order placed on them from June 8, due to the presence of Salmonella .
Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores where the batch has been sold.
Finally, Tesco have been ordered to recall a batch of Tesco Cottage Pie Mini Meal Adventures Baby Food due to the possible presence of pieces of blue plastic.
The 190g pack size of the cottage pie has a best before by date of June 12 and the stock originates in France.
Tesco have displayed point-of-sale recall notices in stores supplied with the implicated batch.
