First Bus changes coming into force today including new route

A new timetable is being rolled out across Bristol today including a new metrobus service. First Bus has made changes to six different routes as it launches the new m4 which will link Cribbs Causeway and Bristol Parkway with the city centre.

Services 19, 70, 73, m1, m2, m3/m3x and Y6 will see a revised timetable from today (January 22). The changes are expected to improve punctuality while giving buses more time to complete their journeys, according to First Bus.

The new m4 metrobus is set to run every 20 minutes from Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sundays and bank holidays. It will run between 6am and 11pm on weekdays, with a later start at weekends according to First West of England, which will operate the service.

As well as providing a link between Cribbs Causeway and Bristol Parkway Station and the city centre, it will serve communities in Patchway and Stoke Gifford. In the future, the service is expected to operate in the new Brabazon development at the old Filton Airfield site. However, buses are likely to operate via Hayes Way to start with.
