All the Edinburgh road closures ahead of Bruce Springsteen at BT Murrayfield

BT Murrayfield has been a busy stadium over the last few weeks, hosting pop royalty in Beyoncé and Harry Styles one week after the other to thousands of adoring Edinburgh fans.

Styles capped off two performances in Edinburgh on Saturday, May 26, while Beyoncé played the weekend before on May 20.

Concerts at the rugby venue aren't set to let up just yet, however, as Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are due to perform on Tuesday, May 30.

With a BT Murrayfield performance comes road diversions and closures, due to the residential location of the popular concert venue.

Read on below to find out more about which roads will be affected by the Springsteen concert on Tuesday, and how to access Murrayfield by foot, car or public transport.

Which roads will be closed due to the Bruce Springsteen concert?

Road closures after the concert will be in effect around the A8, Roseburn area and West Approach Road - and may also be implemented before the concert if deemed necessary by the authorities.

According to Lothian Buses, it is important to note that the road closure timings are all approximate and may be subject to change at short notice.

Residents have also been told that there may be further road closures to deter fans from parking in residential areas.

The roads that could be closed before the event include; Roseburn Street, Russell Road, the A8 corridor between Haymarket and Western Corner, and Murrayfield Road.

Possible roads closed after the event include: Roseburn Street, Russell Road, Murrayfield Road, A8 between Haymarket and Western Corner, Westfield Road / WestApproach Road, Rosebery Crescent, Balbirnie Place, and Grosvenor Street.

Lothian Buses that are diverted due to the Murrayfield event

Lothian Buses have shared a full timetable of buses that may be diverted, delayed or cancelled due to the Bruce Springsteen gig at BT Murrayfield. These include:

Between 2pm and 8pm on Tuesday, May 30

  • Service 12 (both directions) – between Morrison Link and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Morrison Street, West Maitland Street, Palmerston Place, Douglas Gardens, Belford Terrace, Belford Road, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.
  • Services 26 & 31 (both directions) – between Princes Street and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Queensferry Street, Queensferry Road, Queensferry Terrace, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.
  • Airlink 100 (both directions) – between Princes Street and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Queensferry Street, Queensferry Road, Queensferry Terrace, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.
  • Service X18 (both directions) – between Princes Street and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Queensferry Street, Queensferry Road, Queensferry Terrace, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.

Between 9.15pm and 11.59pm on Tuesday, May 30

  • Services 1 & 2 (both directions) – between Balgreen Road and Gorgie Road, buses will be diverted via Balgreen Road and Gorgie Road.
  • Service 22 (both directions) – between Balgreen Road and West Approach Road, buses will be diverted via Balgreen Road, Gorgie Road, Henderson Terrace and Dundee Street.
  • Service 30 (both directions) – between Gorgie Road and West Approach Road, buses will be diverted via Gorgie Road, Henderson Terrace and Dundee Street.
  • Services X27 & X28 (both directions) – between Gorgie Road and West Approach Road, buses will be diverted via Gorgie Road, Henderson Terrace and Dundee Street.

Between 9.15pm and 12.30am on Tuesday, May 30

  • Service 12 (westbound) – between Morrison Link and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Morrison Street, West Maitland Street, Palmerston Place, Douglas Gardens, Belford Terrace, Belford Road, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.
  • Service 12 (eastbound) – between Corstorphine Road and Morrison Link, buses will be diverted via Murrayfield Road, Ravelston Dykes, Belford Road, Belford Terrace, Douglas Gardens, Palmerston Place and Torphichen Place.
  • Services 26 & 31 (both directions) – between Princes Street and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Queensferry Street, Queensferry Road, Queensferry Terrace, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.
  • Airlink 100 (both directions) – between Princes Street and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Queensferry Street, Queensferry Road, Queensferry Terrace, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.
  • Service X18 (both directions) – between Princes Street and Corstorphine Road, buses will be diverted via Queensferry Street, Queensferry Road, Queensferry Terrace, Ravelston Dykes and Murrayfield Road.

Traffic Scotland stated the following on their website: "Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band are set to play at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Tuesday, May 30. The event gates open at 4.30pm and it will finish by 10.30pm.

"We expect traffic to be heavier than normal on the M8, A720, M90 and over the Queensferry Crossing. Local routes may also be affected.

"Please consider active travel and public transport options. Remember to check train times before travelling to avoid disappointment."
