All the characters who could die in Emmerdale's Christmas Day pub explosion

This Christmas, Emmerdale could see the most explosive episode in the history of the soap as the beloved Woolpack pub meets its end.

Show bosses have confirmed that a huge fire will rip through the pub, completely ruining it.

Rumours have circulated that the explosion could be caused deliberately, especially as there's been plenty of drama there recently.

But it's not yet known whether anyone will be hurt or even die in the blaze.

Dramatic pictures have been released of the incident which show a massive fire engulfing the entire pub.

Recently, pub investor Al Chapman has been wanting to change the local favourite into a block of luxury flats and tried to sabotage the standard of food.

Al became an investor and has gone head to head with Chas and Marlon Dingle, who are the managers.

It seems that Al has been purposely trying to sabotage the pub so it gets closed and he can change its use.

For example he has been serving frozen food rather that letting Chef Marlon do his job properly.

Chas and Marlon haven't been getting on with Al (ITV)

Viewers will learn more about who causes the damage in the coming episodes but one thing is clear, that it is sure to ruin the Dingles' futures.

Who could die in the blaze?

Chas Dingle, played by Lucy Pargeter, could be one of the people who are in danger in the pub explosion.

It's thought that Chas could be working in the pub while the fire takes place, which could put her life in danger.

Marlon Dingle, played by Mark Charnock, could be in a similar situation if he's working in the pub at the time.

It's not yet known when the accident takes place so it could be during work hours or when no one is in the pub.

Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) has been the man causing most of the trouble recently and would definitely have some sort of motive to cause the explosion.

The current villain's plan for flats could happen if the pub is destroyed but that would mean he has to completely rebuild.

Despite not being connected to The Woolpack, Meena Jutla, played by Paige Sandhu, remains on the loose after killing multiple characters.

However, Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) seems to be catching up on the truth, but will Meena kill again?

There's going to be more to the story than just the fire as producer Kate Brooks said: "It’s not just the Woolpack that goes up in flames on Christmas Day, as secrets and lies explode, ripping through the lives of some of our much loved villagers and making it a Christmas they’ll never forget."

All will be revealed on Christmas day as viewers will be taken through a flashback episode which will reveal the whole truth of what really has been going on in the village.

The fire will completely ruin The Woolpack (ITV)

An ITV spokesperson said: "The Emmerdale villagers awake to a thin dusting of what appears to be snow on Christmas morning but is all as it seems?

"Soon we flashback to the hours that preceded this flurry and understand what really happened.

"Lives are destroyed, families fall apart and betrayal runs deep this winter in Emmerdale."

They added: "With the festive season fast approaching, can families find a way to heal their rifts?

"As the dust clears it is soon apparent this will be a Christmas the villagers will never forget, leaving some things changed forever."

Al has been trying to close the pub (ITV)

The Woolpack has had faced some difficulties over the years but has always bounced back so it's sure to get back up and running soon again.

Back in 1998, the Woolpack was set alight when Tricia Stokes accidentally set fireworks off inside the pub while Terry Woods was professing his love for her.

Then in 2004, a storm on New Year's Eve led to the collapse of the chimney on Tricia Dingle, leading to her death.

But back in 1993, which could be the most dramatic of all, the pub also suffered huge damage after a plane crashed into it.

The Christmas episode will air at 7pm on 25th December for an hour long special on ITV and and Virgin Media.
