All the changes to Cardiff Bus services coming into force because of lockdown

Cardiff Bus is bringing in widespread changes to its services as a result of the ongoing lockdown.

The bus operator is set to reduce services and temporarily scrap several others across the city after discussions with the Welsh Government.

The changes are set to come into effect from Sunday, January 17.

Timetable changes will affect all services apart from the 65, 65A and H59 which will remain the same.

Cardiff Bus added that "unfortunately", services 12, 53, 66, 93, 95A, 95B, 100 and the X45 will not run until further notice.

Routes will remain the same apart from city circle services 1 and 2 which will travel along Ocean Way during morning and afternoon peak times to help key workers access workplaces.

Level 4 lockdown restrictions were brought in on December 24 in Wales. The rules mean people should work from home if they can, and all non-essential retail and most hospitality businesses remain closed.

Cardiff Bus commercial director Gareth Stevens said: “We are set to introduce a number of timetable changes which will affect customers across our network.

“We appreciate that any change could be an inconvenience, but we would like to reassure our customers that we have thoroughly assessed all services and have made this decision following extensive talks with the Welsh Government to reflect to the current and ongoing lockdown.

“We would encourage all our customers to check the revised timetable and route details before travelling, as they will be subject to change from January 17.

“We also urge all customers to please follow the Welsh Government tier 4 lockdown regulations, only travel for essential reasons, and if you have to travel always wear a face covering for the duration of your journey unless you are exempt.”

“Please check our website, social media and app for all the latest travel news and information.”
