All the candidates standing in Bolton council local elections 2023 by ward

Elections for Bolton Council are less than a month away with all 60 seats in the borough’s wards up for grabs in the poll. Residents are voting to elect three representatives in each of the borough’s 20 wards on polling day on Thursday, May 4.

A total of 246 candidates in total are standing for councillor positions in each of the wards which make up the town. The elections will take place on Thursday, May 4, from 7am until 10pm along with similar votes across the country.

Candidates from the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats and Reform/Bolton For Change will contest every ward. The Green Party will be fighting to win in 12 wards while they are joined by two Northern Heart candidates and four Independent contenders.

Other parties fielding candidates are Farnworth and Kearsley First, One Kearsley, Horwich and Blackrod First, Little Lever and Darcy Lever First and Westhoughton Independents.

Residents have until midnight on Monday, April 17 to make sure they are on the electoral register and therefore entitled to vote. To register to vote, go to https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

The government has passed new laws which will mean changes to elections next month including the need for voter identification if voting in person.
