All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven – review

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

I was lucky enough to win a signed copy of this book a few days ago, and I started reading it immediately after reading a review on the inside cover comparing it to The Fault in Our Stars and Eleanor and Park, two of my all time favourite books.

All the Bright Places is about two seventeen-year-olds, Theodore Finch and Violet Markey. Finch wants to take his own life, while Violet is still devastated by her sister's death. When they meet on the ledge of the school bell tower, their epic story begins.

Finch is drawn to Violet, so he announces that he will be her partner in their U.S. Geography project. Together, they travel around Indianapolis, visiting some of the unknown wonders of their town, and in each place, leave something behind.

And slowly but surely, they fall in love.

But, as Violet starts to come to terms with her sister's death, Finch is getting worse. For weeks on end he stays in his closet, day and night, never coming out, unless to see Violet.

Then, one day he disappears…

This book is incredible. It will both warm your heart and break it at the the same time. I cried at this book, and I mean really cried. It is one of the most beautifully written books I have read in ages, not to mention the incredible story and characters. It is powerful and moving and spine-tinglingly wonderful. You will cry, but you will love it.

So if you are a fan of The Fault in Our Stars or Eleanor and Park, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out this book, as I am certain you will love it just as much as I do.
