Harriet Manners, our loveable geek narrator, is back!
Harriet thinks her modelling career is over, due to her failure with designer Yuka Ito. But she doesn't care as much as she should, as she is going to sixth form! Finally, there is a chance for her to start all over again, without being labelled as a geek. This time, Harriet is determined to be popular. She has to make friends quickly, as her best friend Nat is no longer with her, and her stalker Toby isn't interested in stalking her anymore. Harriet wants to make a good impression, so she learns lots of facts to get her prepared for her first day of sixth form. But of course, being Harriet, things don't go to plan.
Dotted with fun and interesting facts, this book was a delight to read. It is uplifting and funny, but serious at times too. It has valuable advice about being popular and about being confident about yourself.
I was really touched by it, to be honest. Harriet is such an amazing character, and I suppose I'm like her in some ways. I am maybe a 'geek' but I'm not as geeky as Harriet. I found it sometimes quite easy to relate to Harriet, and this is probably why the book really got to me. I love Harriet's facts for any occasion, and her little quirks which make her seem more realistic than any other character I've known.
This book was extremely well written. It grasped my attention throughout, and the end is so beautiful! It's really lovely. It seems to me that the Geek Girl books are just getting better and better! Holly Smale is honestly a brilliant young adult author, and her books can be enjoyed by anyone as they are so upbeat and fun. Honestly, you need to read them as they're really really good.
