All ten Greater Manchester boroughs see rise in Coronavirus infection rates

Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, new data has confirmed.

And the infection rate is now higher than the national average in one of the boroughs.

Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester, with 507.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending December 4.

The lowest infection rate is in Bolton, where the rate is 317.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 404.0 cases per 100,000 population.

The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 499.8 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 11,456 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on December 4.

The Greater Manchester weekly total has increased by 1076 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was up 10 per cent in the last week..

The infection rate is higher than the national average one area of Greater Manchester. It is lower than the national average in 9 areas.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on November 28, a total of 191 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 18 fewer than the week before, a fall of 10 per cent.

On Tuesday November 30, there were 32 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is four fewer than a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending December 4, a total of 32 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 9 fewer than the week before.

Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs

Trafford

In Trafford, there were 1206 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending December 4, which is 194 more than the previous 7 days.

Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is up slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is up by 19 per cent.

Bolton

Bolton, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 916 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending December 4, which is 19 more than the previous 7 days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Bolton is now 317.8 cases per 100,000 people and is up by two per cent week-on-week.

Stockport

Stockport recorded 1289 coronavirus cases, which is 182 more than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Stockport is 438.1 cases per 100,000 people and that is up 16 per cent week-on-week.

Rochdale

The trend is up in Rochdale, where there were 969 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending December 4, which is 84 more than the previous 7 days. That is up by 9 per cent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Rochdale is 433.2 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.

Tameside

Tameside saw a total of 978 cases in the week ending December 4, which is 107 more than the previous week. That is a rise of 12 per cent.

In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 430.6 cases per 100,000 people.

Salford

There was a rise of two per cent in cases in Salford over the week ending December 4, and the infection rate is now 418.0 cases per 100,000 population.

Salford recorded 1098 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 23 more than the previous week.

Bury

There were 866 positive tests over the last week in Bury, which is 134 more than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Bury is up by 18 per cent and the latest infection rate is 454.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Manchester

In Manchester, the number of cases is up by seven per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 339.5 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 1887 positive Covid-19 tests in Manchester in the week ending December 4, which was 127 more than the previous 7 days.

Wigan

In Wigan, the latest infection rate is 440.6 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by 12 per cent.

A total of 1457 people tested positive for Covid in Wigan over the seven days ending on December 4, which is 155 more than the week before.

Oldham

Oldham is an area where the trend is up. The latest infection rate here is 332.5 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 790 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 51 more than the previous week - a rise of seven per cent.
