Beryl Rigby says her and her husband are still just as in love as they were when they first met 74 years ago.

Tuesday marked Mrs Rigby and her husband Frank Rigby's 70th wedding anniversary. Mr Rigby described reaching the milestone as "unbelievable" and said, like any marriage, there had been ups and downs but ultimately he and his wife continued to love one another each and every day.

"[Our marriage] has changed a little bit as we've gotten older, but as far as we're concerned we still just care, and love one another," Mrs Rigby said.

The Stockton couple, who are both over 90 years old, celebrated the milestone at a high tea with their family over the weekend, an occasion which saw their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gathering to commemorate their marriage.

When asked what moments stood out during the marriage, Mr Rigby highlighted their "unforgettable" wedding day, as well as the days their children were born.

Just before Valentine's Day in 2013, the Newcastle Herald spoke to the pair about their relationship and Mr Rigby's unique persistence in showcasing affection daily.

"He gives me a flower every morning,'' Mrs Rigby said at the time. "We could be in the middle of the desert and he'll find me a flower ... it's not always a rose but I always get a flower, every morning."

Despite a recent stroke, Mr Rigby still brings any flower he finds to his wife of seven decades whenever he is able to.
