All-star recipe a ratings winner for WIN Network

The WIN Network has been teasing the new series of MasterChef Australia: Back To Win for weeks now, and Newcastle viewers eagerly tuned in to Monday night's premiere.

Now in its 12th season, MasterChef Australia's 2020 series premiere won its televised time slot in Newcastle, reaching 48,308 viewers with a commercial share of 26.1 per cent on Total People. Compared to the show's 2019 launch in Newcastle, this year's premiere saw strong year-over-year gains in average audience (up 60.9 per cent) and commercial share (up 11.7 share points - an increase of 81.2 per cent year-over-year).

Nationally, MasterChef Australia also performed well. The premiere episode delivered 1.56 million viewers (combined metro and regional), up 72 per cent compared to the 2019 launch.

This year's contestants have all competed in the MasterChef kitchen before, including Mayfield's Reece Hignell. Maitland's Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo are the new judges, and chef Gordon Ramsay is the special guest in the MasterChef kitchen this week.
