All Star Musicals: The celebrities taking part and what the ITV show is about

Back for another one-off episode is ITV's All Star Musicals where six celebrities will step up and perform hits from a range of musicals. TV presenter and singer John Barrowman will be hosting the show, after he was dropped from Dancing On Ice.

Each celebrity will perform one song from a musical, while supported by a full West End ensemble and a live orchestra, before a winner is crowned. Before performing, the six celebrities will undergo a musical theatre masterclass from Elaine Paige, Samantha Barks, and Trevor Dion Nicholas.

The celebrities taking part are Good Morning Britain presenter Alex Beresford, actress Jacqueline Jossa, wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan, Coronation Street's Lisa George, James Bond actor Colin Salmon, and rugby star Danny Care. While ITV has not announced what specific songs each celebrity will be singing they have said the musical hit will "range from traditional to contemporary" and be from musicals including Frozen, Les Miserables, 42nd Street, and Hamilton.

Kicking off the show is a performance from Grease by the musical theatre experts Elaine, Samantha, Trevor and they will be joined by the host of the show John. There will also be a performance from the cast of The Phantom of the Opera during the show.

Who is taking part in All Star Musicals?

Alex Beresford

Best known for presenting the weather on Good Morning Britain, Alex Beresford has recently quit his job as a weatherman for ITV West Country for a new position in the ITV national news team. He has previously taken part in Dancing On Ice and was involved in a heated argument with Piers Morgan over his comments about Meghan Markle.

Jacqueline Jossa

Jacqueline is best known for her role in EastEnders (ITV)

Queen of the jungle Jacqueline Jossa is best known for her role as Lauren Branning in the BBC soap EastEnders. Speaking about going on All Star Musicals she said: “I am so excited to take part in All Star Musicals, it's thrilling and terrifying, and I can't wait to tackle a musical number that everyone knows and loves."

Michaela Strachan

Wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan will be swapping the great outdoors for a theatre stage for All Star Musicals. She is best known for presenting The Really Wild Show and Countryfile. Talking about the show, Michaela is excited for some glamour.

She said: "As a wildlife presenter, I don't often get the chance to swap the walking boots and outdoor gear for something sparkly! I’m attempting to do something I haven’t done for over 30 years, spoiler alert, it's not the can can!”

Lisa George

Coronation Street actress Lisa George has also previously taken part in Dancing On Ice and has starred in Casualty and Holby City, which has recently been axed by the BBC. She described All Star Musicals as a "dream" for her, she said: “ASM is a dream for me, both professionally and personally. The team have been so supportive and nurturing and I can't wait to take to the stage.”

Colin Salmon

James Bond star Colin Salmon has also starred in TV shows including Limitless and Master of None. The 59-year-old spoke about going on All Star Musicals, he said: “Who knew it would be so much fun learning to master the Master.”

Danny Care

English rugby player Danny Care played for England for 10 years from 2008 to 2018 and will now be giving up the rugby boots for some theatre magic. He said: “I'm really excited to be doing something completely different and out of my comfort zone. I've always dreamt of performing in a musical and having the chance to work with so many talented people."

All Star Musicals will air on ITV on Sunday, April, 3 at 7.30pm.
