All-star Les Miserables concert crashes booking site as 20,000 fans queue for tickets

The people are singing the songs of angry men as fans trying to get tickets for the Les Miserables concert today found themselves in a queue of thousands.

Tickets went on sale at noon but demand proved so high that the booking website crashed almost immediately.

When the site rebooted, hopeful audience members took to Twitter to share their struggles, with some sitting in a queue of more than 20,000.

The huge demand is for a 16 week concert version of Les Miserables starring Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Matt Lucas, which opens at the Gielgud Theatre in August.

Many fans complained that the website bumped them down the queue.

One Twitter user said that it was easier to get tickets for “floor seats for Shawn Mendes at the O2” than Les Mis. Mendes has nearly 30 million followers on Twitter.

Others lamented, with the help of Fantine and others, that they were losing hope of getting tickets.

The moral of the story is: never underestimate the dedication of Les Mis fans they have a Heart Full of Love for this musical.
