South Lanarkshire Council have cancelled all committee meetings until after the Easter recess as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
Today’s (Wednesday, March 18) meeting of the equal opportunities forum was called off yesterday but following the latest public health advice, all other meetings have now been cancelled.
The executive committee and full council had been expected to meet next week (Wednesday, March 25) with the council’s capital budget strategy on the agenda for the coming year.
Posting on social media, a spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Council said: “Given the current public health advice, all South Lanarkshire Council committees and forum meetings will be cancelled with immediate effect.
“This will continue until after the Easter recess, when the situation will be reviewed.”
The earliest councillors will now meet will be Monday, April 27 when the planning local review body are scheduled to meet.
Earlier, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that all schools would close from next week and the council have said they are working towards this.
