All signs point to ex-MLB star Barry Zito as a ‘Masked Singer’ contestant

It appears we have another pro athlete on The Masked Singer.

The FOX singing competition show in which famous people hide their identities has featured names including Rob Gronkowski, Indiana Pacers Victor Oladipo, Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw and Antonio Brown.

And now, there’s “the Rhino,” who has made it all the way to the “super nine” set of contestants. A lot of people out there think all of its clues point to former Cy Young winner Barry Zito.

First of all, the Rhino is wearing an old-school pilot’s uniform, like an … ace! Like an ace PITCHER?

We also know that Zito has a music career post-baseball. But there are some other clues:

He talks about rising to the top of his field and then dealing with criticism. After Zito’s Cy Young, he never quite found that form again. There are three quarters, which add up to 75 cents. Zito used to wear No. 75. His “college roommate” sounds like he’s from California, and Zito attended USC and UC Santa Barbara. Good Housekeeping and The Athletic found other ones that totally point to Zito.

To me, the biggest clue is the actual singing. The Rhino is GOOD, just like Zito:

We’ll see how far this ace goes starting Wednesday night.
