All Saints DLR attack: Man hit over head with hammer and pushed on tracks at east London station

A man was hit over the head with a hammer and pushed onto railway tracks during an attack in east London last night.

British Transport Police is appealing for information following the "concerning incident" at All Saints DLR station, in Poplar.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was targeted at about 10.43pm on Monday.

A statement from British Transport Police said: "The victim, aged in his 30s, was hit over the head with the hammer. He was pushed onto the tracks but ran over to the other platform and escaped.

"He suffered fractures to the skull and remains in hospital. His injuries are not described as life-threatening or life-changing."

The incident happened at All Saints DLR station (Google Streetview)

Officers are now searching for a man caught on CCTV at the time of the incident.

Det Supt Nick Sedgemore said: "Clearly this is a very concerning attack.

"Enquiries have been underway since it occurred to locate the suspect and understand his motive.

"We ask anyone who knows the identity of the man pictured to get in touch."

Anyone who knows him is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference 670 of July 29, 2019.
