All Romanian top-flight clubs to have women's teams by 2021

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - All Romania's top division clubs have been told by the country's football federation to get licences to participate in the domestic championship by 2021.

The decision, however, was strongly criticised by Gigi Becali, the owner of FCSB, formerly known as Steaua Bucharest, who said on Thursday he would "never finance a women's club" and would challenge the FRF instruction in court.

"I do not want money from women," said Becali, a well-known opponent of women's soccer. "If you give me a billion from a female football, I will not take it."

Romania's women's national team have never reached the World Cup or European Championship finals despite participating in all the qualifying tournaments since 1993.
