All rise for the sexiest Londoner of 2025: Rachel Reeves advisor Neil Amin-Smith tops our ‘hot 100’ list

Rachel Reeves’ most trusted special advisor this week goes from chart topper to heartstopper in the Standard’s list of the 100 Sexiest Londoners.

Neil Amin-Smith once travelled the world as a violinist with Grammy-winning Clean Bandit, the electronic musical group he co-founded.

They had four UK No1 songs, including Rather Be featuring Jess Glynne in 2014, before he departed two years later.

But as the song’s lyrics suggest, “there’s no place” Amin-Smith would want to be now he’s swapped fiddle strings for fiscal policy in the Treasury.

Described as “the hottest SpAd in Westminster”, the 35-year-old has been spotted tie-less by the Chancellor’s side with his broad shoulders, tousled chocolate hair and statement earrings.

The Cambridge-educated economist once appeared on the front cover of Gay Times and was in a relationship with Years & Years singer Olly Alexander.

In a 2015 Daily Telegraph interview, Amin-Smith said he had turned down job offers from MI6 and the Foreign Office.

After leaving Clean Bandit dubbed “the poshest band in music”, he worked for the Institute for Fiscal Studies before joining Labour from the Treasury in 2022.

As a senior special advisor to Reeves, Amin-Smith earned a place on her Economic Advisory Council, focussing on policy affecting the City of London.

He has been heavily involved in flagship Labour government plans, such as the national wealth fund, and colleagues fawn he is “unusually gorgeous, and quite stylish”.

Amin-Smith receives a salary of up to £89,999 a year, according to the Government website.

Other names on our list of the hottest Londoners are Lionesses captain Leah Williamson, 28, and 27-year-old partner Elle Smith, a model and former Miss USA.

Williamson led England to a European Championship penalty shootout win over Spain in the final in Basel, Switzerland last month.

Peckham-born actor Damson Idris, who plays Brad Pitt’s rookie team-mate Joshua Pearce in F1: The Movie, the blockbuster based on James Hunt, also appears.

Idris, 33, has also starred in John Singleton’s crime drama Snowfall and Netflix’s sci-fi action film Outside the Wire.

Lord Frederick Windsor, the 46-year-old son of Prince Michael of Kent, is another name to feature. The royal is a JP Morgan investment banker.
