Train services running through Roby Station will be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.
Disruption is expected to continue for the evening - TPE tweeted:
#Roby Disruption Update: Due to an obstruction on the line at #Roby, services between #LiverpoolLimeStreet & #ManchesterVictoria will be cancelled, delayed or diverted. Ticket acceptance is currently in place with @EastMidRailway and @MCRMetrolink until further notice.
Updates on Northern's journey checker say the obstruction has been caused by a landslip.
