All R.E.P.O. monsters listed

Looking for a list of all R.E.P.O monsters? As of writing, there are 29 monsters in R.E.P.O, all desperate to kill you or smash your treasure. Below, we've listed all monsters, their threat level, behavior, and the cash they drop if you manage to kill them.

All R.E.P.O. monsters and what they do

Apex Predator

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Apex Predator monster.

Don’t be fooled by this adorable ducky, he's hiding a dark alter-ego. The Apex Predator will appear as a toy duck and follow you around the map, desperately trying to get you to pick him up. If you do what he wants, however, he will become a spiky-toothed monster and chase you for approximately 10 seconds. While he's a cute nuisance, as long as you ignore this monster, he isn’t dangerous.

Animal

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Animal monster.

These spider-like entities will wander around rather aimlessly across maps. It isn't until they spot you that they begin running erratically, crashing into anything and everything. They can knock over semibots and destroy valuables, both inside the C.A.R.T. or loose on the floor. They're capable of stunning themselves, but they're more of a nuisance than anything else.

Banger

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Banger monster.

Bangers are walking skulls with dynamite stuffed inside of them. They will often roam in groups of three and set alight their fuses once they see a semibot. As expected, you’ll have a limited amount of time before the Banger explodes. It is possible to pick one up and throw it like a grenade, but you must do so within three seconds or the Banger will escape from your grasp. Anything caught in its explosive radius will get hurt, including monsters.

Bella

Bella's bicycle in R.E.P.O
Screenshot by Destructoid

Riding around on a red tricycle, Bella is a poltergeist that's invisible until you anger her. Do not assume this bike moving on its own means it's a valuable you can pick up. Her bell rings if you're standing in her way. She'll reveal herself and speed up if you provoke her, where she rides over you repeatedly. She's capable of attacking you under whatever cover you're trying to hide in. Her attack lasts the same amount of time as the Apex Predator and Birthday Boy.

Birthday Boy

Full body shot of the Birthday Boy
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Birthday Boy moves around the level, inflating red balloons. He cannot be thrown off the map as he'll use a balloon to levitate to the nearest surface. Birthday Boy is harmless if you don't pop his balloons. No matter where he is, he will know if one of his balloons is purposely popped. Valuables and the C.A.R.T. can pop them too. He will go into a close-range frenzy where he can easily climb onto and crawl under cover, making him an impossible monster to hide from.

Bowtie

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Bowtie monster.

The Bowtie monster is a large, slow creature, less dangerous than others on this list. If spotted, they will emit a loud cry that will push you back. This can easily stun-lock you on a wall or send you flying off the map, killing you instantly. While the Bowtie doesn't deal that much damage and can harm other monsters, you don't want to scare the Bowtie. After blowing the house down, it'll stampede away which can hurt you if caught in its path.

Chef

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Chef monster.

The Chef monster is a large mustachio-sporting frog that will smile once it spots you and rolls toward you with knives slashing outwards. He wants you to be on the dinner menu. Chef rolls around uncontrollably, making him an easy monster to avoid by using the environment as cover or to jump on top of. The Chef can hurt each other, monsters, and themselves if they accidentally fall into death pits or lava pools.

Cleanup Crew

Cleanup Crew full body shot of it regenerating its head
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Cleanup Crew is an amalgamation of heads, where he sends one hurtling your way, which implodes after a short time. The head resembles the Rubber Ducky, capable of ricocheting off any structure, hoping it lands in your hands by the time it explodes. The Cleanup Crew can infinitely regenerate his head, but he moves around the map slowly, giving you time to leave the area so you don't get hit. He also has a close-range attack where his heads turn into spikes, expanding from his body to hit anything in its one-meter radius.

Clown

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Clown monster.

The Clown monster is a shambling beast with a stretched-out clown face. Once it sees you it will emit a laser beam from its nose tip that will arc in a large horizontal line. If caught in the beam’s blast it’s pretty much game over, so watch out for the tell-tale thumping footprints and clown laughter to signal when this monstrosity is nearby. After its beam attack, it will slowly move towards a semibot and try to stomp on them. The Clown is one of the few monsters that has loud footsteps that shakes the camera and a distinct audio cue for its whereabouts—its giggle. It moves around the map slowly and doesn't have the best eyesight.

Elsa

Pet the dog if you want to survive. Elsa just wants some love. Like Lethal Company's Maneater or ARC-686 in The Classrooms, Elsa will transform into a killing machine should you neglect her. There's a warning when her eyes turn red that she hasn't been petted in a while. Elsa stays close to you like the Apex Predator, where clicking on her generates love hearts. She will eventually leave you alone, but if you don't pet her, Elsa transforms into a bipedal muscular beast that charges at those who neglected her.

Gambit

Screenshot by Destructoid

When the Gambit appears with its mouth concealed, it's rather docile and harmless. However, if you make yourself known or alert it in any way, the Gambit grabs you and starts to play a game with your life. You're forced to spin its colorful wheel and whichever it lands on determines if you get some money or lose your HP.

Gnome

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Gnome monster.

Gnomes can be an absolute pest. Not only will they stab you for low but consistent damage, but they will also make it their mission to destroy your loot. Often they will jump inside your C.A.R.T. and chip away at items until they shatter. Their fragile exterior means they're easy to deal with, but they will stop at nothing to ruin your day. If no valuable is around to destroy, they'll pickaxe you instead.

Headgrab

Headgrab full body
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Headgrab is a goblin that excels at martial arts. What he wants to do is take your friend's semibot head so you can't revive them. Headgrab doesn't want to fight unless provoked. He'd rather run away with your goods like a Hoarding Bug. He has close-range combos that you can counter or flee from, but he will spend most of his time running away from you.

Headman

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Headman monster.

The Headman is a giant head that will float towards you, snapping its jaws with the sole goal of taking a bite out of you. This floating monstrosity moves around at a decent pace and is easy to avoid by utilizing cover. While its head stays in a fixed position, its eyes dart around, searching for movement. The Headman isn't too bothered about noise; it's more focused on motion detection.

Heart Hugger

The Heart Hugger can appear as a floating cartoonish heart that hypnotizes a semibot using a horizontal beam. If caught in it, you're reeled inwards, where the heart transforms into its true form of a Venus flytrap. This then chomps down, cutting into your HP. The Heart Hugger then recoils into the floor, where it'll pop up elsewhere, like Oogly and Peeper.

Hidden

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Hidden monster.

The Hidden is one of the hardest enemies to challenge because it is almost invisible. The only indication this creature is near is the dark fog cloud it projects during exhale and the footsteps it leaves behind. The Hidden will laugh and breathe erratically once it grabs you, forcing the semibot into Tumble animation. It then moves you around the map, being an absolute nuisance when you want to leave or are moving the C.A.R.T. to the next Extraction Point.

Huntsman

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Huntsman monster.

The Huntsman is a blind shotgun-wielding opponent that has the world's greatest hearing. He uses his shotgun as a walking stick until swapping it to a powerful weapon if he hears you jump, talk, run, or drop an item. The walking stick can alert him to your whereabouts if it bumps into you. The shotgun can one-shot you in the early game. He's not particularly bright and often falls down stairs, but he's lethal if you're not paying attention. The Huntsman can be tricked into killing other monsters.

Loom

Full body shot of Loom
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Loom is the scariest monster in R.E.P.O. She can only target one player at a time, meaning anyone on their own is in for a fright. You'll know when Loom is tracking you as an overlayed image of her hands appear closing in on your screen. She will swap targets if she feels threatened. Loom stalks her prey, waiting until they're close enough to slam her hands together once they're caught between them. She knows where you are at all times, so hiding is useless.

Mentalist

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Mentalist monster.

The Mentalist is a large-brained entity that floats around the map. It moves around the map slowly, looking for semibots to lift players from the ground with its anti-gravity dome. It then slams them back down, delivering large amounts of damage in one blow (one-shot without upgrades). They can also lift and damage your loot if it is near you during an attack.

Oogly

Oogly's green spotlight
Screenshot by Destructoid

Oogly acts as the security system on levels, albeit a rarer monster than others. He can only be in one room at a time, and he doesn't stick around for long, circling the ceiling like a shark searching for prey. He uses a green light as a spotlight to detect any wandering semibots. If spotted, Oogly flies down and lifts you into the air, throwing you around every corner and eventually dropping you from a height. He can throw you off the map, into death pits and lava pool,s depending on the room Oogly is flying around in.

Peeper

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Peeper monster.

The Peeper is a giant eye that appears on ceilings. The eye immobilizes you and forces you to look at it, leaving you vulnerable to attacks by other monsters and deal consistent ticking damage. To shake it off, you must break its line of sight. Use nearby cover to escape the Peeper's gaze. It will disappear and spawn into another room, trying its luck again. The Peeper is known to spawn right outside the truck when you're leaving.

Reaper

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Reaper monster.

The Reaper appears as a scarecrow with knives for arms. When she spots you, she runs towards you, slashing her knives from side to side. Whilst she won't instantly kill you, you won’t be able to take many hits before you’re sliced to ribbons as she can easily stun-lock you. Thankfully, she gets distracted easily and loses track of your location quickly. Even a door can confuse her.

Robe

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Robe monster.

The Robe entity is a ghost-like creature that floats across the map. The Robe will mostly leave you alone unless you look at it directly in the face. When this happens, the creature will shriek and chase you. Its bird-like screams mean it's attacking. Static shows when it's pursuing you but isn't going to strike unless you look at it again.

Rugrat

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Rugrat monster.

Rugrats are toddlers running around looking for items to throw at semibots. Not only does this damage the player upon impact, but the items they throw are usually destroyed too. They run away after throwing an item, looking for the next valuable to destroy and hurt you with.

Shadow Child

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Shadow Child monster.

The Shadow Child is a nightmarish apparition that teleports around the map. You’ll know it’s in the vicinity when you hear a child’s laughter. Like the Enderman, the Shadow Child only hurts you if you look at its face for too long. It'll then grab and throw you across the map. Shadow Child disappears after a while if you're not looking at it. It'll then reappear in another room, like the Heart Hugger or Peeper.

Spewer

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Spewer monster.

The Spewer is a floating set of teeth that vomits on players, delivering acid damage. Their main goal is to latch onto semibots to hurt their teammates. This process lasts around 50 seconds. It can be used to hurt other monsters.

Tick

The Tick in R.E.P.O
Screenshot by Destructoid

The Tick is harmless until you pick it up. You cannot drop it if you grab or hit it as it feasts on your health, leaving you weak to more aggressive monsters. The Tick's body fills to a large green ball, running away so you don't pop it like a balloon. The Tick cannot drop a life orb unless it's drained someone's health. The Tick also cannot drain again if its body is bulbous and green. This means you can safely pick it up and throw it without taking damage. If left alone, the Tick just slowly walks around the level, minding its business, but it will latch on if you knock into it with a valuable or weapon.

Trudge

R.E.P.O in-game screenshot of the Trudge monster.

The Trudge is a large creature that carries around a mace and delivers large shock attacks to players. If spotted, he will pull you towards him by slamming the mace to the ground, lifting it to deal large explosive damage that sends semibots flying. Both the mace and the explosive damage can one-shot a player if they have no upgrades. The Trudge is appropriately named for how he slowly moves around the map.

Upscream

R.E.P.O screenshot of the Upscream monster.
Image via Semiwork

The Upscream is a frantic spider-like monster that searches for semibots to scream at them. It moves incredibly fast once it spots you. You're then trapped looking at its screaming face, where it throws you upwards, dealing small damage. You can get stun-locked by it as Upscream will continue to do this move until eventually running off.
