The ending segment of the 2025 World Championships revealed something massive for Pokémon TCG Pocket fans, as Mega Evolution is heading to the digital playing mat pretty soon.
As confirmed by the official X account earlier on Aug. 18, we have the first glimpses of a few Mega Evolution cards. An exact date is yet to be announced, but most expectations are along the lines of the next season.

All Pokémon TCG Pocket Mega Evolution cards
While The Pokémon Company didn't explicitly disclose any of the Mega Evolutions, we got an official trailer. Here's the list of all new shiny cards that we have found on the trailer:
- Mega Altaria EX
- Mega Gyarados EX
- Mega Blaziken EX
We will update this list as we keep getting more leaks and officially confirmed cards from The Pokémon Company.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Mega Evolution release date
Unfortunately, an exact release date isn't available at this time. The ongoing expansion began in the last week of July. According to the official Mega Evolution trailer, the new update will be part of a fresh season going live in the Fall this year.
Once we have an exact date and time, expect to see a countdown that will tick down to the incoming feature.
How will Mega Evolution work in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Again, we do not have any official information about how the Mega Evolutions are going to work. Based on my experience with Pokémon TCG Pocket and Pokémon TCG Live, I firmly believe that Mega Evolutions will work in the same fashion as regular Evolutions.
In simpler words, you'll have to slap the Mega version on the usually evolved version of a Pokémon. It's understandable that Mega Evolutions will dish out massive damage to players and their cards. However, they should take a long time to set up or risk completely changing the dynamics of the meta and breaking regular evolutions.
