All passengers travelling to Hong Kong will have to submit a health declaration form due to coronavirus

All passengers travelling to Hong Kong will be required to submit a health declaration form before being allowed in the country as a way to track the spread of coronavirus.

The rule came into place at midnight on Saturday, according to the Department for Health.

Travellers are also being warned to expect increased health screening measures and temperature checks.

The Department for Health website says: "As of midnight, March 7, all passengers arriving to Hong Kong will be required to complete and submit a health declaration form."

There have been around 100 confirmed cases of Covid-19  so far in Hong Kong.

There have been more than 100,000 cases confirmed worldwide.

Since January 28, the Hong Kong SAR government has had a number of measures in place to prevent the spread of the virus.

They have included the scaling back of flights, trains, ferries and buses between Hong Kong and mainland China.

A 14-day self quarantine period is in place for new arrivals who have been to mainland China in the last 14 days.

All non-Hong Kong residents who have been in South Korea in the previous 14 days will be denied entry.

New arrivals who have been to Iran, Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy or Veneto regions of Italy in the past 14 days will need to stay in a Hong Kong quarantine centre.
