All PAINT Bombs in EMPULSE and their effects

EMPULSE ditches traditional grenades for something way more creative–P.A.I.N.T. Bombs.

These projectiles permanently change how surfaces behave, letting you craft speed strips, jump pads, and tactical zones mid-match. There are five unique bomb types, each with distinct colors and effects.

What Are P.A.I.N.T. Bombs in EMPULSE?

P.A.I.N.T. Bombs are Plasma Activated Infusion of Nano-Tech Bombs that replace grenades entirely in EMPULSE. Instead of dealing damage, you throw these custom paint bombs onto surfaces, and they physically rewrite ground physics wherever they land.

When you step into a paint puddle, you keep the effect as long as the colored border stays visible on your screen, meaning you can chain multiple bombs together. Wall-run into a grapple swing, drop a P.A.I.N.T. Bomb on the wall ahead, boost off it into a Holojump, and land already lined up for your next shot.

Each loadout includes one paint bomb slot, and perks can upgrade you to carry up to three at once.

All P.A.I.N.T Bombs in EMPULSE

As of the Demo, there are five P.A.I.N.T Bombs in EMPULSE. Here’s a complete breakdown of all:

P.A.I.N.T Bomb Color Availability Effects Best Uses
Speed P.A.I.N.T. Bomb Orange Instant speed boost on ground or walls Rapid repositioning, chasing enemies, quick objective steals
Jump P.A.I.N.T. Bomb Blue Available at Rookie Level 30 Super jump with wall bounce capability Verticality, flanking routes, escaping ground pressure
Sticky P.A.I.N.T. Bomb Yellow Available at Rookie Level 36 Makes enemies heavy, slows movement, reduces jump height Trapping enemies, slowing mech advances, defensive holds
Explosive P.A.I.N.T. Bomb Red Available at Rookie Level 45 Two-stage detonation:
Big first blast
Even bigger second detonation
Area denial, trapping enemies, and Mech damage
Heal P.A.I.N.T. Bomb Green Available at Rookie Level 60 Regenerates HP for you and teammates Team recovery zones, defensive holds, clutch situations

The Speed P.A.I.N.T. is orange and gives you an instant speed boost whether you’re on the ground or running along walls. Use it before charging into combat, place it on walls for quick flanking routes, or set up speed corridors near intel spawns. This bomb lets you slide across surfaces, chain movement faster than ever, and reach angles before enemies can react.

The Jump bomb gives you a massive vertical boost. What makes this even better is the wall bounce feature, where you can bounce off walls for extra distance. Use it to reach high ground quickly, surprise enemies from above, or escape when someone’s grappled onto you.

Sticky P.A.I.N.T. is yellow and works opposite to Speed bombs. Instead of boosting you, it makes anyone who steps in heavy, slows their movement, and reduces their jump height. This is your anti-Mech, anti-aggression tool. Your grapple is your best escape tool if you accidentally step in.

The Explosive bomb is the only P.A.I.N.T. Bomb that deals damage. It’s red and features a dangerous two-stage explosion pattern. There’s a big first blast when you step in, followed by an even bigger second detonation. This bomb creates tactical bursts perfect for area denial.

The Heal P.A.I.N.T. bomb is your support player’s best friend. When you toss this green bomb onto a surface, it creates a puddle that regenerates health for anyone who steps inside.

How to use P.A.I.N.T Bombs in EMPULSE

The core of EMPULSE is chaining movement mechanics together. P.A.I.N.T. Bombs are the secret weapon that makes this possible. Try to wall-run forward, grapple swing to build speed, drop a Speed bomb on the wall ahead, boost off it into a Holojump, and land already aiming at your target.

You can open up new lines that didn’t exist a second ago by dropping these bombs. In Control mode, place Speed bombs on your rotation routes and Jump bombs to reach high ground quickly. In Intel, set Heal zones near your holding position so teammates can recover without leaving.

Every loadout includes one paint bomb slot by default. However, perks can upgrade you to carry up to three bombs at once.
