All of Peter Tobin's known victims and the theory surrounding him being Bible John

Peter Tobin is one of Scotland's worst and most notorious serial killers. The cancer-stricken 75-year-old was jailed in 2008 after committing a string of killings between 1991 and 2006.

The Renfrewshire-born rapist and murderer, who has never shown remorse for his evil crimes, is currently serving three life sentences in HMP Edinburgh.

Tobin is also believed to be suffering from cancer, with several trips to hospital being reported in recent years. He was also rushed to hospital at the start of April after being floored with an unknown illness.

A source told the Scottish Sun: “Tobin is not a well man and he’s been in and out of hospital with various complaints and ailments.

“Obviously the authorities and health professionals are duty bound to give him the necessary treatment but needless to say sympathy is in short supply."

The Scottish Sun also told how the dad of one of his victims toasted Tobin's ill-health with a brandy.

How many people did Peter Tobin Kill?

Tobin was caged in 2008 for the murders of two teenage girls and and young woman in her 20s.

But cops believe he may be behind numerous other young women’s unsolved killings.

Vicky Hamilton

Vicky, 15, was last seen alive at a bus stop in Bathgate, West Lothian in February 1991.

She was on her way back to her home in Redding, near Falkirk, after visiting her sister Sharon in Livingston.

Vicky was living with her mum Janette, who died just two years later, aged 41.

The schoolgirl's body was discovered at the home in Margate, Kent, that Tobin had moved to just weeks after he'd killed Vicky.

He drugged, raped and strangled her before cutting her body in two.

Vicky's father Michael - who suffered a heart attack in 2010 - has endured decades of torment since Vicky's death.

And he told how his 17-year wait for justice had taken its toll, but seeing monster Peter Tobin caged for murder had finally given him some peace.

Earlier this year he raised a glass of brandy to toast Tobin's failing health - after the monster suffered a suspected stroke in prison.

Dinah McNicol

Also found in the garden at Tobin's Margate home were the remains of Dinah McNicol, 18.

She vanished as she travelled home to Tillingham, Essex, from a music festival in August 1991.

Tobin had picked up hitchhiker Dinah and pal David Tremlett on the A3 near Liphook, Hants.

After dropping off David, he drugged Dinah with painkiller Amitriptyline and strangled her.

Her 4ft 10ins body was finally found in 2007. She had been bound and gagged before being buried in the garden of Tobin's former home in Margate, Kent.

Her father Ian, who died in 2014, shared a unique bond with Michael Hamilton.

They became firm friends and spoke on the phone most night's until Ian's death.

Angelika Kluk

In 2006, Angelika, 23, who was studying languages at Gdansk University, Poland, was staying in a room at St Patrick's Roman Catholic church in Glasgow on a working holiday.

She befriended Tobin, who was working as a handyman at the church after being released from jail for sexually assaulting two 14-year-old girls.

But unbeknown to Angelika, the remains of two teens who vanished in 1991 were buried in the garden of his former home in Margate, Kent.

On September 24, 2006, she disappeared after last being seen in the churchyard with Tobin, who was using the fake name Pat McLaughlin to avoid detection.

Five days later, police were scrambled to the church where Angelika's body had been discovered.

The tragic student had been battered in the head repeatedly, raped, gagged and tied up and then stabbed in the chest.

Her body was then dumped beneath the floor of the chapel in an underground chamber.

Was Tobin Bible John?

Bible John is the mystery murderer responsible for the brutal killings of Patricia Docker, 25, Jemima MacDonald, 32, and Helen Puttock, 29.

The three women were found murdered in Glasgow over a period of 18 months between 1968 and 1969.

They had all been to the Barrowlands Ballroom and were killed in a similar sadistic fashion.

Each woman was found partially naked, having been beaten before being strangled to death.

Helen Puttock was also raped before she was murdered.

There are many theories as to who Bible John could be and many think that the mystery killer is in fact Peter Tobin.

The known movements and style of the convicted serial killer have given rise to suspicions that he may be Bible John.

Although, this theory has never been proved, and there is little evidence that would suggest the theory is true.

In January 2022, the father of one of Tobin's victims, Michael Hamilton, said that he doesn't believe that Tobin was the infamous Bible John.

He said that while he initially thought they could have been the same person, his opinion has changed after a chat with retired top cop David Swindle - the former lead detective on the case of Bible John.

Mr Hamilton said: “Bible John is probably dead and has taken his secrets to the grave with him.

“That’s the end of that story, basically.”
