All new Texans trade acquisitions active against Saints

The Houston Texans were busy on the trade market throughout training camp and cut-day.

The Bill O’Brien-led multi-headed general manager brought in RB Duke Johnson, LT Laremy Tunsil, WR Kenny Stills, RB Carlos Hyde, CB Keion Crossen, OLB Barkevious Mingo, and OLB Jacob Martin in the span of three weeks.

All will play against the New Orleans Saints on Monday night, as the Texans inactives list was devoid of any of the seven previously mentioned.

Johnson, Tunsil, and Stills are the most likely to receive the most snaps against New Orleans. Johnson should help as a runner and pass-catcher; Tunsil, the presumed franchise left tackle, will protect Deshaun Watson’s blindside; Stills will likely fill in for Keke Coutee, who is inactive.

Hyde will see time as the Texans’ preferred power back, as they brought him in to do so. Mingo and Martin should rotate through a now-deeper outside linebacking unit, and Crossen is primed to help on special teams.

The seven will play an integral roll in the Texans’ efforts to beat New Orleans in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
