Killing Floor 3 is all about the fast-paced, action-fueled, zed-slaying gameplay—but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy a story while you're at it. The game boasts a number of missions that come together to make a short campaign mode.
Those familiar with the lore may recognize the name of the classic bioweapons manufacturer Horzine, who made the zeds you fight. Think of it as Killing Floor's Umbrella Corporation, and you're close enough.
The lore evolves throughout 10 short assignments, each asking you to interact with objects during your runs in the game's maps. Here's the full list of missions for Killing Floor 3.
Killing Floor 3 mission list

- Absolute Massacre (Army Depot)
- Sample Analysis (R&D Lab)
- Containment Measures (Army Depot)
- Shipment Tracking (Radar Station)
- Industrial Sabotage (Horzine Factory)
- Frequency Shift (R&D Lab)
- Emergency Broadcast (Radar Station)
- Missing Persons (Convoy)
- Power Outage (City Streets)
- The Chimera Project (Offices)
Each mission tasks you with a handful of objectives, giving a bit of extra purpose to each sortie. While a research lab seems like a staple choice for a map in a zombie game, you'll actually use its devices to uncover new zed technology in an attempt to stop the experiments made by a rogue group of Horzine scientists driven by fame, faith, or fear. We've written a simplified, spoiler-free version of the story below.
What's Killing Floor 3's story about?

The newest title follows the story from its predecessors, though with a considerable timeskip in between. Killing Floor 3 is set in 2091, after Cordelia Clamely—staunch anti-bioweapons activist and granddaughter to Horzine co-founder Kevin Clamely—establishes a response team called Nightfall to stand up against the rogue company.
In the new title, the Nightfall special ops team find evidence of a potentially devastating type of biotechnology. Now, they must track the people making these new experiments or risk even deadlier consequences. Cordelia is your handler throughout the missions, giving you valuable intel in each assignment (when she's not waiting for you to finish a wave, that is).
Off the bat, the game mentions three Horizon staff members by surname in the Codex: Moorcroft, Hobbes, and Medford. They appear throughout the campaign in some form, and they're all embroiled in the plot.
Dr. Moorcroft is Killing Floor 3's bona fide mad scientist, the founder of the R&D Red division, who is developing new zeds with the use of a substance called the Mire. Edgar Hobbes is a vehement zealot, trusting the doctor above anything. Pam Medford, on the other hand, is the only reluctant one of those three. Each plays a role in the story, and the Nightfall team will try their best to stop this new threat.
