All-Ireland U20 Football Championship final postponed due to Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions

This weekend's All-Ireland U20 Football Championship final has been postponed as a result of the country moving to Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions.

Dublin were due to face Galway in the decider after their respective wins over Tyrone and Kerry last weekend, but from midnight tonight only senior inter-county games will be allowed to go ahead.

The GAA have not yet made an official announcement on the postponement, but Galway chairman Pat Kearney says the game is off.

He told Galway Bay FM: "The U20 match fixed for Saturday evening is off. We just got confirmation from Croke Park there 20 minutes ago. The game is off, and the minor and U20 championship is called off.

"The intention would be that the U20 final will be played at some stage … it’s a health issue, we can do nothing about it."

Ireland moves to Level 5 restrictions from midnight on Wednesday, meaning the three Leinster U20 hurling matches scheduled for this evening can still go ahead.
