All-Ireland champions Ballyhale Shamrocks were among the hundreds of clubs across Ireland who resumed training last night as GAA grounds finally reopened.
For the first time since March, training sessions could be staged on GAA pitches though strict safety measures were in place with no access to dressing rooms as players arrived and togged out, while the Ballyhale players trained in groups of five.
Curiously, none of Ballyhale’s Kilkenny senior panellists were present for the session despite inter-county training not being permitted to resume until September 14.
Full contact training and challenge games are allowed from next Monday before competitive games get underway on July 17.
