The franchise’s first mainline game to be available outside of Nintendo platforms, Inazuma Eleven Victory Road promises to bring to fans a culmination of everything the series is about.
But apart from its already well-known mix of pure football and real-time RPG elements, there’s much more to see here. Here’s a quick overview of all of the game modes you can tackle in Inazuma Eleven Victory Road, going from its story-focused Main Campaign to the content-filled Chronicle and Kizuna Station.

Story Mode, Explained
The game’s headliner, Victory Road takes place 25 years after the events of the original Inazuma Eleven and features a completely new roster of main characters, starting with its new protagonist Unmei Sasanami, a boy who rediscovers his love for football after joining South Cirrus Junior High and meeting “The Monster” Haru Endo.

As you can see above, the mode is a fully fledged RPG and allows you to follow Unmei’s story while completing a series of side missions, managing your team on and off the pitch, taking part in mini games/turn-based combat encounters, and deepening your bonds with your current and future companions. The mode is also filled with fully animated cutscenes, courtesy of Studio MAPPA (the ones responsible for the anime adaptations of Jujutsu Kaizen, Vinland Saga, Hells Paradise, and Chainsaw Man). You can check out its main trailer below:
Chronicle Mode, Explained
A celebration of the franchise’s story and the mode many will spend most of their time in, Chronicle follows a storyline completely separate from the above and sees players relive the main campaigns of all previous Inazuma Eleven games as they advance through a grid-like map.

As you play, you must use both the story-locked squads and your own team, composed of upgradable players won as random rewards and divided into multiple rarities. The players available span all over the franchise’s main games to a total of over 5,000. Chronicle also features more than a handful of animated cutscenes, as you can see in the trailer below.
Competitive And Battle Bay Stadium, Explained
What I consider to be another facet of Chronicle, Victory Road‘s Competitive Mode lets you take part in both friendly and ranked online matches while using any of your custom squads. If you are not confident in them or just want to play with friends using your favorites, head to the game’s Battle Bay Stadium to play both multiplayer and single-player matches with legendary Inazuma Eleven teams.

Kizuna Station, Explained
The game’s final main mode, Kizuna Station allows players to create their own avatars, as well as fully customize and explore a world of their own in cozy gaming fashion. The buildings and items you can use to decorate it, however, can be acquired by playing on all game modes, as well as via its exclusive shop. Before you ask, yes, you can invite friends and even play matches within your pocket domain, and no, there are no microtransactions here.

To add to that, your created player’s abilities can be freely customized to fit your desired playstyle and position. They can also be used in pretty much all game modes, including Chronicle and Competitive, as well as be found as a fellow student in the Story.
