May 28--If you think you've heard the names Noah and Olivia more than usual lately, it's not a coincidence.
The names were Illinois' residents most popular choices for newborn boys and girls in 2014, according to the Social Security Administration. The list was tabulated by applications to the Social Security Administration when the children were born.
Last year in Illinois, 901 girls were named Olivia and 835 boys were named Noah.
Alexander became the state's second most popular name for boys, with 744 boys given the name. For girls, the second most popular name in the state was Emma, with 791 girls given that name.
Rounding out the top 10 names for girls, in order: Sophia, Isabella, Ava, Mia, Emily, Sofia, Charlotte and Abigail.

According to the Social Security Administration, the least popular names on the list of 100 top names in the state were George, for boys, and Piper, for girls.
Across the country, the top boy's name remained Noah, followed by Liam. The top girl's name across the country for girls born in 2014 was Emma, followed by Olivia, according to the Social Security Administration.
