I am a Guardian reader and subscriber of more than 40 years – though sadly no longer a subscriber, even though I would love to be. A few months ago I sent a cheque for NZ$300 to renew my subscription to Guardian Weekly. This was cashed, but my subscription was not renewed and I have not received a single copy.
It looks like your agent in New Zealand, where I live, took my money, and closed the business. Since then, I have tried to contact your agents many times with no success.
I have spoken and written to Guardian Weekly Australia, but haven’t heard back in the weeks since they promised to look into the matter.
I love the Guardian, and I’d love to be a reader again. Please can I have the subscription that I have paid for? PP, Papakura, New Zealand
It turns out that you fell victim to TMMC, a New Zealand-based subscription company that has indeed closed down. It took your cheque (the equivalent of £135) and cashed it, but the funds and renewal information were never passed on to the relevant section at the Guardian. You have spent the past few months trying to get your money back, with TMMC apparently not answering calls, emails or letters.
You made contact with us separately, and although authorisation was given to set up a free subscription in April, this did not happen.
It has now been set up to start this week, with the previous issue sent out manually. We apologise profusely for what happened and hope you enjoy reading us again.
Welcome back!
