All hail 'The 'Mud King'! Watch Download festival-goers cheer man covered head-to-toe in mud

A well-spirited festival-goer covered head-to-toe in muck has been crowned The Mud King by fellow rock revellers.

Liam Burton captured footage of the very boggy inauguration at Download Festival, at Donington Park, yesterday (June 13).

Sharing the footage on Facebook, he captioned the clip 'All Hail The Mud King'.

The video (originally nine minutes long) follows a topless Downloader as he makes his way through one of the campsites accompanied by an adoring crowd chanting: "He's our king, he's our king, he's your king, he's your king."

Sat comfortably in the mud while his public feed him drinks including beer, cider and goodness knows what else, the star of the video is seen covered entirely in mud.

At one point a fellow reveller with a camping mallet and two beer cans stacked together with duct tape silences the chants by shouting "order".

"Take a kneel for your king's speech," he adds before the Mud King takes the floor.

The footage comes as Download Festival-goers deal with rain on a biblical scale. Non-stop showers over 48-hours caused paths and campsites to turn into quagmires.

Now, where on earth did we put the wet wipes?
