All four areas in Bristol region record rise in coronavirus cases

All four areas in the Bristol region have recorded a rise in coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours.

Four new patients have been diagnosed with Covid-19 today (August 26), according to figures released by Public Health England.

This brings our city's total to 1,463.

Bath and North East Somerset saw an increase of three, bringing its total to 399 - but figures for this area were not available yesterday.

While four further cases were recorded in South Gloucestershire, which now has 818.

North Somerset reported a rise of one, bringing the district's total to 933.

Across the UK, 328,846 people have now tested positive, an increase of 1,048 in the last 24 hours.

Covid deaths

Neither of Bristol's hospital trusts have recorded a coronavirus-related death since the beginning of July.

The total number of deaths recorded locally stands at 272 since the pandemic began.

Today's figures show 41,465 people have died across the UK - with 16 in the last 24 hours.

Schools

The figures come on the same day it's been revealed kids in secondary schools will have to wear face masks when moving around corridors and communal spaces.

This does not include classrooms, and does not apply to primary-aged pupils.
