Developed in collaboration between Marvel Games, PlayStation Studios, and Arc System Works, this 4v4 tag-team fighter was officially revealed during the PlayStation State of Play June 2025.
Here’s a rundown of all the confirmed characters in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls so far, along with details on gameplay mechanics, release date, and platforms.
All confirmed characters in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
As revealed in the official trailer, eight characters are confirmed to be part of the game’s roster:

- Captain America
- Iron Man
- Spider-Man
- Doctor Doom
- Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes)
- Storm
- Ms. Marvel
- Star-Lord
Takeshi Yamanaka, producer of Arc System Works (the developer behind the Guilty Gear series and Dragon Ball FighterZ), shared some insight into why these particular characters were selected for the game’s launch roster.

“There are so many amazing Marvel characters that it was quite a struggle to choose our roster, but we did have some criteria for the selection process. First and foremost, we wanted to include characters who we feel to be the ‘face’ of Marvel. At the same time, we also needed to select characters that would give us a balance of battle types and styles,” Yamanaka said.
Yamanaka added that more exciting characters will be added in the future. “We wanted to sprinkle in a few surprises and leave room for characters who have never been playable in a fighting game before.”
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls gameplay mechanics
Each character in the game comes equipped with a carefully crafted moveset that includes Normal, Special, and Unique attacks—all drawn from their iconic Marvel abilities and powers. There’s been a real focus on evolving fighting game genre, as the development team has reimagined and refined the core mechanics to deliver a dynamic 4v4 title.

“Team VS fighting games have a long tradition of 2v2 or 3v3 team formats, so this is something we discussed in-depth within the development team,” said Kazuto Sekine, game director and lead battle designer.
”Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters, but for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game. We have designed the mechanics in such a way that you can perform a variety of actions with either traditional fighting game inputs or simple inputs. With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together–creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience,” Sekine added.
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls release date and platforms
The game is scheduled to launch in 2026, though an exact release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. When it drops, it’ll be available on PlayStation 5 as well as PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls trailer
Seriously, I got hyped while watching this trailer. It took me right back to being a kid playing the Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter arcade game, eagerly steering the joystick and mashing the buttons as I go up against teenagers using my favorite Spider-Man and Wolverine duo. Honestly, Marvel Tokon has that same energy, and it might just be the game that convinces me to buy an arcade stick and get back into fighting games.
