There are 29 areas across Nottinghamshire that have recorded more than 100 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
The figures, part of the City and County Councils' weekly surveillance reports, show a sharp increase in cases in a number of areas, particularly in the city.
Places in the county such as Beeston and West Bridgford have been the worst affected on the outskirts of the city, while an outbreak in HMP Lowdham Grange could be behind the high numbers in this area.
But comparing the city and county case numbers, it is clear there are neighbourhoods surging ahead with University Park, Lenton Abbey & Jubliee Campus, recording 1,271 cases up to October 11.
The worst affected area in the county is Beeston North which has confirmed 226 cases since the start of the outbreak - but in the city there are seven areas that top this figure.
Compared to last week's report, the area has seen a large increase.
Public Health directors have said while the rates of infection among young people continue to rise, older generations are also being impacted.
Even though figures show areas with a high proportion of young people and students are becoming hotspots, the health bosses warn cases are going up in every district - even those with low student numbers.
Director for public health in Nottinghamshire, Jonathan Gribbin said: "In the most recent data, the rate for Gedling was around 312 per 100,000 and over the coming days this is likely to push higher - a similar situation for Broxtowe and Rushcliffe.
"This is being driven by younger age groups, the 18-30-year-olds in particular.
"And Gedling is not identified as having a high concentration of students like in the city.
"It shows that singling out groups is not helpful and it doesn't reflect the data fully.
"We all have a part to play in stopping the spread."
