All about the goals for Joe Lolley - and he has a pledge for Nottingham Forest

It was all about the goals for Joe Lolley - and the flying winger hopes to deliver more for Nottingham Forest next season.

Lolley notched up his 12th goal of the season, to help the Reds finish the season with a 1-0 win over Bolton.

The rampaging 26-year-old has also laid on 11 assists, to help him secure the player of the season title by a significant margin, ahead of runner-up Jack Colback.

But, while Lolley enjoys laying on goals for others, he admits he takes far more satisfaction from finding the back of the net himself.

And he hopes to maintain the habit when Martin O’Neill’s side kick-off the new season in August.

“The goals mean the most to me, because I have always scored goals, growing up,” said Lolley. “ I have not done it enough since I have been playing professionally.

Martin O’Neill talks 'goalkeeping options' at Nottingham Forest

“Assists are different, because you might pass somebody the ball five yards away and they can hit a screamer into the top corner from 25 yards.

“Alternatively you could beat three men and somebody might miss a tap in from five yards out.”

Lolley has been one of the stand out performers in the Championship this season, but recently spoke of how he has no desire to leave the City Ground.

And he says he is already looking forward to playing his part again, when the new campaign kicks-off.

“To be in double-figures in both is good for me. I have tried to be unselfish, I have tried to set up others. But to also score yourself is important,” he said.

“Hopefully I can chip in with more, in the future.”
