Arsenal manager Unai Emery was not in a talkative mood ahead of the Gunners' Europa League clash against Vitoria, which led to an awkward BT Sport interview.
The Gunners are looking to find their rhythm following a difficult period, which included a 1-1 draw with Wolves in the Premier League at the weekend and a Carabao Cup defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
However, for the second week in a row, all the talk around the red half of North London has orientated around Granit Xhaka's position as captain following a clash with fans in the recent 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
Emery confirmed in his pre-match press conference yesterday that Xhaka was stripped of the armband, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appointed as his successor.
If Emery had hoped that would be the end of it all, he was to be disappointed though as BT Sport understandably had questions about the situation ahead of the game.
The Spaniard, it seems, was not in the right mood to answer the questions posed to him though, as he gave brief responses to questions about Rob Holding and Gabriel Martinelli. You can what he said below.
How distracting has the issue of the captains role been and what’s happened with Granit in the past week or so?
“Today it is Rob Holding and he is perfect. Why? Because he is.”
Martinelli, why has he been able to start his career with Arsenal so strongly, yet he’s so young?
“He’s young but he’s working very well.”
What do you like about him?
“Every supporter can look at him and see his quality.”
