The Papa John's Trophy saw the group stage come to a conclusion on Wednesday night.
Despite only three games taking place, there were plenty of goals - with Exeter City's game against Bristol Rovers hogging most of them.
The Grecians went in at the break 5-0 up only for Rovers to hit back with three unanswered goals after the restart. The hosts held on though and victory confirms their spot as group winners.
Elsewhere, Wigan and Forest Green booked their places in the next round thanks to 2-0 wins over Shrewsbury and Walsall respectively.
The group stage has proved to be a hugely challenging one for the Premier League development squads this season.

All 16 groups had one top flight side in them and of those a whopping THIRTEEN have been eliminated already.
West Ham thought they had qualified after finishing top of their group with six points from three matches. But they were docked three points by the EFL after fielding an ineligible player, which meant they dropped from first to third.
Only Arsenal, Aston Villa and Chelsea's youngsters remain in the competition. They are joined by current holders Sunderland and two-time winners in the shape of Carlisle, Wigan and Port Vale.
The round of 32 ties will now be determined by a regionalised draw, with group winners at home against a runner-up - although not the same side with whom they shared a group.
The draw is on Saturday, November 13 at around 2pm on Sky Sports following the live Port Vale versus Bradford game.
Round Two ties are scheduled to be played the week commencing November 29.
