All 28 areas of Nottinghamshire which have almost no cases of Covid-19

The number of towns and villages across Nottinghamshire recording next to no new cases of coronavirus has doubled in a week.

Public health officials spoke last week of their "enormous" encouragement at the news of 14 areas which had - by definition - suppressed coronavirus cases in the seven days to March 6.

This, according to the Government, is when an area has fewer than three new cases.

As a result, no data is given, and the area is classed as having "suppressed" Covid.

More recently, in the seven days to March 11 (the latest available data), this number doubled to 28 areas which had suppressed the virus.

Public health officials said cases had been falling, roughly, "by between a quarter and a half".

However, rates are still higher than the England average.

Cases generally continue to decline just weeks into the Government's new roadmap plan, with schools now open for business.

The next step, on March 29, will see the rule of six reintroduced.

Non-essential retail and personal care will then later reopen from April 12.

From this date gyms will reopen and pubs will be allowed to open their outdoor spaces.

The 28 areas which have now 'suppressed' the virus are as follows:

Gamston and Holme Pierrepont
