Alistair Johnston Celtic injury timeline 'detailed'

Alistair Johnston's Celtic injury timeline has been mapped out.

The Hoops right-back will definitely be out of action for Ange Postecoglou's men as they aim to clinch the league title this weekend.

Celtic could secure their 53rd Premiership crown by defeating Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon.

They will have to do so without Canada international Johnston, who ended last weekend's game against Rangers on crutches.

However, the Daily Record reports that Johnston hopes to be back in time to face Inverness in the Scottish Cup final.

They claim that the early consensus is that the 24-year-old will be out of action for around three or four weeks with his ankle injury.

This means Johnston would miss all of Celtic's five post-split fixtures to see out the Premiership season.

But with the Scottish Cup final taking place on Saturday, June 3, it's said this gives Johnston a ray of hope that he could be back in time to play his part in a potential treble clincher.

The defender was injured in a 50-50 challenge with Rangers' Borna Barisic.

He was seen on crutches and wearing a moon boot on the pitch after the final whistle.

He impressed at the World Cup and has been a big player for Ange Postecoglou’s side since he replaced Josip Juranovic who left for Union Berlin in January.

The news is another fitness blow for Postecoglou although he has cover in Anthony Ralston.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has already been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
