Alisson's private messages with Manuel Neuer after Liverpool winner

After Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker scored a dramatic late winner against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer reached out to congratulate him.

The 28-year-old became the first goalkeeper to score for Liverpool since the club's formation in 1892 when he ventured into the box and headed home Trent Alexander-Arnold's 95th minute corner.

Taking to Instagram after the goal, Neuer posted an image of Alisson celebrating with the caption: "What a goal my friend".

Neuer has since revealed he has "exchanged a few messages" with Alisson about the goal, describing it as "phenomenal".

Speaking to the Athletic, Neuer said: "I congratulated him and we exchanged a few messages.

"Every goalkeeper dreams of scoring the winning goal. Usually, you’re behind when the goalkeeper comes up, but Liverpool had to win to qualify for the Champions League of course. Phenomenal. What an amazing header.

"I’m so pleased for him. He’s a very nice guy and easy to get along with. He deserves that moment."

Alisson gave an emotional interview after the game where he dedicated the goal to his late father, telling Sky Sports: "I am too emotional - this last month - everything that happened with me and my family - but football is my life.

"I have played since I remember as a human being with my father. I hope he was here to see it. I am sure he is celebrating.

"This was for my family and for the boys. We fight a lot together and we want to get to the Champions League. We won it in 2019 and it was all because of qualification.

"I hope my father is watching and celebrating somewhere. I am really happy - thank you for the players as we fight a lot. We are exhausted from this season - there has been a lot of pressure - I am happy for the win."
