Alisson reveals the biggest challenge he has faced since joining Liverpool

Forget facing Harry Kane or Sergio Aguero - Alisson claims one of his hardest challenges at Liverpool has been understanding the Scouse accent.

Alisson has been a huge success since his then world-record £67million signing in the summer and he is a key part of Liverpool’s twin assault on the Premier League and Champions League.

The Brazil No 1 has kept 20 clean sheets in his 39 appearances and has conceded a competition-low 18 goals in the Premier League.

Alisson feels happily settled at Anfield and admits one of the biggest hurdles he had to overcome was getting to grips with the Scouse accent.

Roberto Firmino's incredible piece of skill that left commentator stunned

“I have been having regular English lessons,” said the goalkeeper. “One of the hardest challenges I had at the start was getting used to the accent, not just the British accent but the Liverpool accent!

“But I’ve managed to deal with this. I can understand people and I can communicate with my team-mates, which is really important.

“When I came here I felt that everyone was important for me, not just the Brazilians.

"Obviously Roberto Firmino was already here and then Fabinho arrived more or less the same time as I did.

“All the players are important, be they the local players from the UK or the players from overseas.

"I admire the strength we have as a team and the quality that every single one of our players has, but the most important thing for me is the team spirit.”

Alisson, 26, claims he has been able to perform on the pitch because he and his family have been made to feel so welcome on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp returns from holiday to plot Liverpool's Premier League title tilt

He says he feels at home in Liverpool, even if most of his family live on the other side of the Atlantic.

“Above all I feel at home here,” he said. “Home is where the heart is and where the family is. My family is here, my daughter and my wife live here and my parents come when they can.

“My brother lives in Portugal, which is not too far, and comes when he can. That helps when I’m missing them. When I think abut Brazil, I miss it a lot, but I have been welcomed here and I feel very much at home.

“The whole group received me very well. The fans have been very kind too, as have the technical team, so I’m really happy here in Liverpool.”
